MacVittie, our newest arrival, started with us this past summer. He is
our
smallest in stature, at 13.3 hands, but don't tell him that! Mac
was the first Highland Pony born in the United States and anyone who meets Mac can
see that he clearly KNOWS he is a very special Pony. As long as we remember
to tell him how special he is he treats us quite well. He's a character.
Mac is generously leased to us by a wonderful woman who is very active
in the local horse community. Mac was bred especially to be a Therapy Pony.
Nutmeg came to our
program about 2 years ago as a leased from a wonderful woman in Surry
who saw that she would make a superb therapy pony. Nutmeg
a 14 hh Haflinger with a beautiful flaxen mane is our youngest horse and, at
9 this year, she is sweet but a little mischievous! For a qualified rider,
Nutmeg is seeking a partial lease to love and ride her 2-3 times weekly while
she is not giving a lesson.
Rhonda is a big hearted Andalusian-Percheron cross. She has
been with our
program for 3 years now. A gray mare standing about 15.2"hh,
she is 16 years old and our "Gentle Giant". She has the smoothest
trot ever and has been driven in her past. She is the largest horse at our
barn, but the least dominant. In the winter we think she looks like
a Polar Bear.
Tinkerbelle i
s a Quarter Horse Cross, who came to our program a few months after Rhonda,
and she is our "Herd Boss". A black mare who stands about 14.3hh, Tinkerbelle
is almost 17 years old. In the herd, she is dominant but remarkably
kind. Once you're accepted into her herd, all your worries are over because
she will take care of you....horse or human.
